October 2017 — As part of ZAI’s recent Annual Kick-Off Meeting, we had a teambuilding event, facilitated by The Leader Institute. During the activity, attendees were randomly divided into groups.Each group then used wits & creativity to solve problems, earn bike parts, and build bicycles for charity in a race against time. At the end of the session, each group had fully and safely assembled a child’s bike. All of the bikes were then donated to the Shelton YMCA, which serves South Arlington, VA.
A representative from the YMCA was on hand to accept the bikes and speak about the impact they will make for their recipients. About a week after the event, ZAI received adorable hand written thank you letters from each of the kids who received a bike, along with photo of them on their new bike.
The whole event was at once a fun, educational, and rewarding experience for all.
