ZAI Leadership
Mary Blevins, Chief Executive Officer
Ms. Blevins has more than 30 years of Federal Government contracting experience, including more than 27 years filling senior and executive management positions. Since joining ZAI in 1995, she has grown revenue by more than 800% and led the expansion of ZAI’s expertise into IT systems design and development, with specific expertise in digital libraries, digital repositories, imaging technologies, and web-based systems.
As CEO, Ms. Blevins sets the strategic direction for the company, leading the development of ZAI’s strategic and tactical plans and directly overseeing ZAI’s four operating divisions. Her leadership garnered ZAI’s recognition as a 2010 Government Contractor Awards Contractor of the Year ($25 to $75 Million) finalist. Prior to joining ZAI, Ms. Blevins spent more than 10 years with the MAXIMA Corporation in a number of senior level positions, including serving as the Corporate Senior Vice President. She managed Government Services Operations that included Federal, State, and local government projects generating $40 million in annual revenues and employing 600 people.
Ms. Blevins holds a B.S. in Business Administration from George Mason University. She is an active member of the Association for Records Managers and Administrators (ARMA), Association for Information and Image Managers (AIIM), and National Contract Management Association (NCMA).
Anthony Santore, Executive Vice President
Mr. Santore has more than 45 years of combined experience in business development, executive/general management, systems and design engineering technical support services, records management, publications, training, and electronic engineering. Mr. Santore joined ZAI in 1990. As ZAI’s Executive Vice President, he oversees all business development and marketing. Prior to joining ZAI, Mr. Santore was the Vice President of Marketing at Washington Data Systems and a Vice President at the MAXIMA Corporation.
Mr. Santore holds an M.S. in Management Science from Frostburg University and a B.S. in Communications from the University of Central Florida. He is an active member of the Association for Information and Image Managers (AIIM), as well as the local community. In 2010 he served as the Chairman for the Vienna, VA Relay for Life, exceeding the fundraising goal for the event by more than $50,000.
Harley Bernstein, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Bernstein has more than 25 years of experience in accounting, finance, and operations management, with more than 23 years in senior and executive management positions. As ZAI’s CFO, Mr. Bernstein oversees accounting, finance, contract administration, and facilities management. Prior to joining ZAI, he was the CFO of TLA Associates and later Vice President, Programs of Kratos Defense and Security when it acquired TLA. While at Kratos, Mr. Bernstein grew contracts by more than 25% through successful capture management. Prior to Kratos, Mr. Bernstein was President of Excel Group. During his nine-year tenure, he grew annual sales ten-fold and led the company to the number 205 spot on the Inc. Top 500 Fastest Growing Companies list. Mr. Bernstein has a B.S. in Finance from Boston University and is a licensed Virginia Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Paul Schapiro, Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Schapiro has more than 30 years of diverse management and IT experience. He currently oversees all of ZAI’s IT operations, providing strategic technical direction for ZAI’s programs and ensuring technical services are delivered to customers. Within two years of joining ZAI, he led his team in building a $10 million/year IT infrastructure and software engineering team delivering mission-critical systems and ensuring a 24x7, 99.999% reliability environment. In addition to his more than seven years at ZAI, Mr. Schapiro has served as a Vice President at such companies as CACI, Information Systems Support, Inc., Metrica, Inc., and the MAXIMA Corporation.
Mr. Schapiro holds an M.S. in Technical Management and an M.S. in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University. He also earned an M.B.A from the University of Baltimore and a B.S. in Engineering from Case Western Reserve University. In addition, he holds post-graduate advanced certifications in both Computer Science and Information Systems and Technology from Johns Hopkins. He is a certified Project Management Professional, Flood Plain Manager, and Computing Professional. He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP).
Stephen Deitz, Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Deitz has more than 17 years of IT and business management experience. As ZAI's COO, he manages the day-to-day operations of ZAI's contract portfolio and is responsible for all ZAI business and project success. Prior to joining ZAI, Mr. Deitz served as the Senior Executive Director of the Civilian Solutions Division at ManTech International Corporation, overseeing projects across the IT field, including software/system development, system integration, infrastructure support, help desk operations, information assurance, personal security, and enterprise architecture/service oriented architecture.
Prior to his position at ManTech, Mr. Deitz was Director of the very successful Contact Center Solutions, Contact Center of Excellence at CSC (formerly Datatrac Information Services, Inc.). In this role, he oversaw four locations and 1,000 employees. In addition, he provided direction and leadership in all aspects of the business, including IT, operations, training, quality, business development, and contract management.
Mr. Deitz holds a Master's degree in Technology Management from The University of Maryland University College, and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Shenandoah University. He also holds a certificate in Executive Leadership from Cornell University. He is a certified Project Management Professional and a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and the American Society of Quality (ASQ).
