TARGET RECOGNITION SYSTEM
ZAI designed and developed an airborne target recognition system for the F-14 Tomcat aircraft. This system utilizes the nose-mounted Vidicon camera installed in the F-14 to capture images of unknown target aircraft. Its high level of accuracy and quick performance make it a valuable addition to fighter aircraft detection systems.
MASSIVE LIBRARY STORES 3D COMPARISON DATA
Data stores of three-dimensional images of all potential aircraft expected in the operational area are formatted and maintained in a specially designed and massively parallel CAD/CAM type of look-up library. Unknown images from the Vidicon camera are digitally processed and then compared against all targets in the target library.
ZAI LINEAR ARRAY PROCESSOR INSTANTLY TESTS UNKNOWN TARGETS
The ZAI Linear Array Processor is a high speed device that tests the images at all aspect angles, in parallel, simultaneously. The system demonstrated a 110% increase in performance over previous Vidicon-related target identification methods. Its accuracy rate of 90+ percent is also highly attractive.
