2/9/2006 - ZAI/Terresense participates in DOE Opportunity Forum
TERRESENSE, a ZAI subsidiary, was selected as one of 32 small, high-technology companies to participate in the Department of Energy’s (DOE) 2006 Opportunity Forum: Energy Independence for the 21st Century led by Dawnbreaker, Inc. Under a Department of Energy (DOE) contract, Dawnbreaker provides commercialization assistance to small advanced technology firms and their investors. The Forum showcased "small advanced technology firms with viable advanced technology solutions."
TERRESENSE is the first to market a new airborne technology for the remote sensing of the biomass and carbon found in the forests. BioSAR30™ is a low frequency airborne synthetic aperture radar system, used for the rapid and accurate measurement of terrestrial biomass specifically for heavily wooded areas. This advanced technology offers industry a resource for measuring the biomass and carbon embedded in trees, which in turn allows for the trading of carbon credits. Carbon credits were a direct result of the Kyoto Accords which addressed the reduction of greenhouse gasses directly related to global warming.
